BIBLE STORY

Shepherds and Angels

Luke 2:8-20

An angel tells shepherds in a field the good news that Jesus has been born.

MEMORY VERSE

“I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”

Luke 2:10, ESV

SAY THIS:

Jesus gives you joy.

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER:

MORNING TIME

When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: “Good morning, [child’s name]! I have some good news for you: Jesus wants to be your friend forever! Yay, Jesus!”

DRIVE TIME

While on the go, look for animals together. Say: “Shepherds were watching animals when an angel told them the good news that Jesus had been born. What kind of animal were the shepherds watching when the angel told them good news? Sheep! That’s right!”

CUDDLE TIME

Cuddle with your child and pray: “God, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, into the world to be our friend forever.”

BATH TIME

Add a washcloth and a small toy to bath time. Take turns hiding the toy under a washcloth for the other person to find. Clap and cheer each time the toy is found. After bath time, say: “When the shepherds found baby Jesus, they had so much joy that they ran to tell everyone in town the good news!”
