"If any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He will give it to you. God gives freely to everyone and doesn’t find fault."
James 1:5, NIrV
As your kid starts their day, share a story of when you saw them make a wise choice.
While on the go, ask your kid: “Who is someone that helped you lately? Who is someone you have helped?”
At a meal this week, have everyone at the table answer this question: “What is some wise advice you’ve heard?”
Pray for each other: “God, help us to look to You for wisdom, and to the wise people You have placed in our lives.”

Luke 2:41-52
Wisdom is worth searching for.
How do you think Jesus acted as He grew up?
What are some ways we can gain wisdom?
How can we remember that wisdom is worth searching for?
“Dear God, we want to be wise. Our whole lives, we want to make wise decisions. Please make us wise. Help us listen to Your Spirit inside of us, leading us to make wise decisions. We love You, and we pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Matthew 7:1-5
When you see yourself clearly, you can make the wise choice.
What is something small that people do that drives you crazy?
What is something that you’re working on?
What steps can you take to “see yourself clearly” in order to make the wise choice?
“Dear God, thank You that You love us so well. You are fair and truthful and kind. Thank You that You want us to love each other well too. Please show us where we have planks in our eyes so we can see more clearly. We want to love people fairly and well like You do. We love You, Jesus, and we ask these things in Your name. Amen.”
At a meal this week, have everyone at the table answer this question: “Tell us about a time when you had a choice to make, and you made a wise one. How did it make you feel?”

What makes someone wise?
Who are some people who help you when you don’t know what to do?
What steps can you begin to take to hang out with wise people?
“Dear God, thank You for all the people in our lives who show us what it looks like to make wise choices. Thank You for surrounding us with people who can show us how to live and how to love like Jesus. Guide us to make the wise choice. We love You, and we pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Pray for each other: “God, surround us with wise people and bring wise people into our lives to help us, guide us, and discover more about You.”

Renew Your Mind
Romans 12:2
Never stop growing in wisdom.
What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
What are good things we can fill our lives and minds with?
What has helped you remember to never stop growing in wisdom?
“Dear God, thank You for loving us so much. Remind us that wise choices start with wise thinking. Help us pay attention to our thoughts and choose things to fill our minds with — things that are good and that remind us of how amazing You are. We love You, and we pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
While on the go, ask your kid: “What’s something new you learned this week?” Demonstrate a growth mindset by sharing something you are learning as well.
“If any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He will give it to you. God gives freely to everyone and doesn’t find fault."
James 1:5, NIrV
